I have struggled with eating and my weight my whole life, and this past year I was diagnosed with PCOS and I know changes had to be made. I wanted to try and change my lifestyle before trying a hormonal approach.
I am most proud of accomplishing becoming more comfortable in the kitchen and for making many different recipes into balanced meals! I have gone down two pant sizes and feel so much more comfortable in my clothes and body! My PCOS symptoms have already started showing improvement as the months have progressed!
I like having that support system! Coach Sam has been great about helping me adjust and working with me to find exercises and recipes that work for me! Sam is always helping me understand the why of what I am improving and has helped me become so much more knowledgeable about food and living a healthier lifestyle!
Before Pivot I felt defeated and very hopeless. I always wanted to change but never had the motivation to change any of my habits. I had gained a lot of weight within the 3 years after COVID and wasn’t sure how to move forward. Now, I feel energized and ready for each week! I am so much more comfortable with myself in multiple aspects of my life, and I strive to do better and try new things! I am learning to balance and inspire myself and my family around me!

My motivation comes from having 2 small children now, and as most parents experience, that means less time for myself. In the past, I was able to stay in relatively good shape by working out A LOT, without much regard for nutrition. As I got older and dedicated more time to my kids, I knew it was time to get smart about what I was putting into my body, because my workouts alone weren't enough anymore.
My biggest accomplishment was educating myself about what my body needs to fuel itself. In the past, I would *think* I was eating well, but I was not really sure. So, when I did not see results, I would get very frustrated because I did not know what I was doing wrong. Along with the education, I'm just glad that I've been able to keep mostly consistent through work, travel, family activities, etc. while still feeling like I can enjoy myself.
My Coach Sarah was great. She has a way of explaining things simply but also answered some of my more complicated and off-the-wall questions. I felt no judgment at all - just honest, constructive feedback.
I feel like I have the tools to make or maintain progress. Whereas in the past, I was mostly guessing as to what I might have been doing wrong. I know I now have my formula for me to stay in shape, and it's just a matter of executing that formula consistently.

I was frustrated with the ongoing cycle of losing weight and gaining it back and decided it was time to reach out for nutrition coaching.
During my time with Pivot, I am most proud of establishing healthy habits that have taken me way beyond my original goals. I enjoy being more active and prioritizing " moving " in my day. I am lifting weights routinely, and I am proud of my progress with lifting heavier weights. I have developed a positive mindset around food and fitness. My cholesterol numbers have dropped to normal ranges and are the best they’ve been in 20 years!! What I once thought was my main goal has been overshadowed by so many other good things (mentioned above). That said, I’ve lost pounds and inches, and I’m wearing smaller sizes. Best of all, I feel great. I feel younger!
My biggest takeaway is that it’s not about the number on the scale. There are so many measures of progress, and it all starts with a healthy mindset. I did not know the importance of protein and the amount I should have daily. I was amazed at how my cravings for my favorite snacks/foods went away when the protein went up. Consistency with “all the things” is what helped me make progress toward my goals.
Carol was the perfect coach for me. She met me where I was and helped me make small changes over time. She encouraged me to get outside and walk in the dead of winter—and it became a daily habit that I loved. I always felt comfortable talking to Carol about my frustrations, stressors, and obstacles.
She would remind me that the changes we were making would become my new routine. It was hard to believe that at the beginning, but she was right! I was also excited to share my successes and discoveries with her. In addition to guiding me through this journey, she was my biggest cheerleader. She genuinely cares and wants me to succeed. Her guidance and encouragement were game-changers for me.
I would tell someone on the fence about nutrition coaching that trying to lose weight is hard work. However, working with a registered dietitian and following the guidance of Pivot Nutrition Coaching has helped me focus on the RIGHT work, and the results are far beyond my initial expectations. As I graduate from the program, my mind is on continuing the right work—and it doesn’t feel like “hard work” anymore. It has simply become how I relate to food and fitness with a healthy mindset and established daily habits. (Just like Coach Carol said it would. 😊)
In addition to having my own personal registered dietitian, I appreciated all the resources provided, the social media pages with info and live segments with Dani, and the podcasts. It is so helpful to have the right information coming to you in many forms.

My biggest takeaway from the program is how important your hunger fullness cues are. Once I learned how to listen to my hunger cues actively, I was able to start losing weight right away.
I loved working with Sam because she gave me some good healthy food options that I would never have thought about. I got my favorite overnight oats recipe from her!!
I would tell someone who is on the fence about nutrition coaching to invest in themselves! It is totally worth it and men, it's okay to ask for help!
